This year, we are celebrating the milestone of 15 years of Excool.
With over a hundred clients, over one thousand four hundred units shipped worldwide, and the prestigious The Queens Award for Enterprise: International Trade under our belt, Excool has certainly made waves over the last decade and a half.
Now a trusted provider of data center cooling solutions, it’s taken 15 years of dedication, relentless development and innovation to make Excool what it is today.
The inception of Excool
The inception of Excool coincided with a big change in the data center industry; in 2008, ASHRAE changed the recommended operating temperature ranges for servers in data centres. With a push towards environmental consciousness, stricter standards on energy-efficiency, monitoring and maintenance were introduced.
While this change meant that many manufacturers of data center cooling solutions were no longer operating within the ASHRAE boundaries, behind the scenes, Excool was already developing cooling solutions with energy-efficiency at the forefront. The original team spent several years at Excool’s first factory, coined “the garage”, tirelessly adapting, developing and testing Excool’s first data cooling solution to be as energy-efficient as possible, knowing it was the future of the industry.
Excool’s solutions
Sure enough, the hard work paid off. In 2010, Excool’s first product, the Excool Zero, began rolling off the line in 2010. The Zero is an innovation in indirect evaporative cooling technology, designed to reduce data center operating costs by over 50%.
Since then, Excool’s product line, team and success are continuing to grow at a tremendous rate.
In 2020, Excool was named as one of the top three of Britain’s privately-owned companies for outstanding manufacturing. We also achieved 30th place overall out of 200 in the 12th annual Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 ranking of the fastest-growing businesses in international sales.
The formula for success?
Excool’s founder attributes the businesses’ success to meticulous research, development and testing. Although not a glamorous or shiny formula for success, it encapsulates the years of unwavering dedication and hard work that has made Excool’s the strong foundation to reach this 15 year milestone.
